Chicago Engagement Photographer: Andrea & Stan

Andrea & Stan were actually guests at the same table I was sitting at during Maria & Dmitry’s wedding reception, so I was totally flattered that they remembered me when it was their turn to get married.

Wanting to try a location I hadn’t shot at before, I asked them to meet me at the Art Institute of Chicago.  Some of my favorite shots are below:

Portrait Shoot: Tiffany & Britt

With her sister Britt moving away to teach English in Chile, Tiffany and her sister decided to have their photos taken as a surprise gift for their Mom’s birthday coming up. =)

Taken at the Lincoln Park Conservatory, It was nice to be warm when the last few weeks haven’t given Chicago very much promising weather.

Some of my favorites:

The Best From 2009

It took me a little while, but I managed to put together a “Best Of” Archive from my 2009 weddings.  Hope you enjoy and Happy Friday!!!

Engagement: Sara & Steve (My Sister!) – Part II

It is with mucho mucho fanfare that I worked with my sister and her fiance again.  This time, Sara and Steve chose to shoot at the Garfield Park Conservatory:

Congratulations Sara =)

Engagement: Tiffany & Sebastian

Tiffany and Sebastian met through co-workers and friends, hanging out at bars and drinking.

What made this different though is that while everyone would be happy just chatting away with casual smalltalk and conversation, Tiffany & Sebastian would have serious conversations in the corner of the bar.  Nothing was off topic.  From Politics to Religion, the conversations they would have were not the usual barfare

Things blossomed on their own from there =).

It was incredible working with Tiffany and Sebastian.  They were so incredibly patient while I ran around and worked like a fool to set up my shots =)  Thank you guys so much!

Locations:

Harold Washington Library

Chicago Cultural Center

Chicago’s Shore

Onto the images:

We went first to the Harold Washington Library’s Winter Garden:

While shooting, Tiffany randomly found a Post-It note with the words “Smile:  =)” on them.

We put it to good use:

Since we were at a library after all, we decided to make use of the books also =D:

Along with that we did some fun things with the rest of the library:

Finishing up with the Library, we then went to the Chicago Cultural Center:

And finally to the shoreline in Chicago that could show a skyline at night =)

Congratulations again you guys!!!  I can’t wait for the wedding in September!!!

Fashion Shoot: Jenny

Christopher & I worked together previously with Vicky to do a fashion shoot a few weeks ago.   We got to shoot in Glenview with his friend Jenny for this shoot!

Gear:

Camera:  Canon 5D Mark I

Lenses:

50mm f/1.2 L

85mm f/1.2 L II

This time around I decided to try and work with black and white as I haven’t had a pure black & white shoot in a long time.

Some images that I liked:

Thank you so much Jenny for being patient with Chris and I!  Hope you had a safe flight back to Cali!!!

Let me know what you guys think!!!

Image of The Moment Monday: “Bubbles. Bubbles. Forget Your Troubles.”

Bubbles. Bubbles. Forget Your Troubles

Camera:  Nikon D70

Lens:  50mm 1.4

One of the very first pictures I ever took with an SLR,  I look at this image and smile with many fond memories =D

He received his namesake after I watched him blow bubbles for 5 minutes while floating in one spot.  He was still doing it while I snapped this actually LOL.

Just floating there.  Blowing bubbles.

If only life were really that simple =)

In The Still Of The Night…

“A Lonely Heart Beats”

Whether or not the gauntlet falls,

the preparations are made by all.

For in due time comes a sound of thunder,

and the best laid plans are torn asunder.

Choices are made, feelings hurt,

testing one’s own self worth.

Some take months, others years,

through sadness, heartache, pain and tears.

They wait and wait, their hearts askew

For the day to come when born anew.

~Self~

I like to think that everyone has gone through moments from the past that signify a turning point in their lives.

Seeing that single light, alone against the darkness…it made me think somewhat of the things I went through in order to get this far photographically and as an artist.

Hence the title, name, and the poem (which is something I originally wrote also!)

Hope you guys like!!!

Fashion Shoot: Vicky

My friend Christopher and I scouted out and shot a more fashion-oriented style shoot this past weekend.  We scouted out the location/s on Saturday and proceeded to shoot on Sunday.  As half of the shoot was experimentation we definitely got to have fun and play.

Bodies:  Nikon D3 & Canon 5D Mark I

Lenses:

Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8

Canon 50mm f/1.2 L

Canon 85mm f/1.2 L II

Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 L II

Some results:

And after showing her grace, the wind knocked it out of her =P

It started getting dark not too long after we finished shooting on the train tracks, so we found an alley and decided to experiment;

(Off Cam Lighting at Night!!!) =D

We snuck around and found another really neat location.  From there we worked more on some off-camera flash =D:

It was totally awesome shooting with my friend Chris and our model Vicky. We need to definitely do this again!!!

Let me know what you guys think!!!!
