Today is International Film Buying Day!
Although digital photography is pre-eminent nowadays, there still remains a solid following of professional and amateur photographers using film. In the last few years however, the sharp decline of film despite this solid following has resulted in legendary names going out of business or altering their business practices.
Kodak-the company that started it all, has sharply reduced the types and number of films they make, and Polaroid no longer makes their once-iconic instant film.
October 1 is a day to show your support for a change.
Started in facebook and on flickr, the movement has culminated in an initiative to show support to the companies that still make film.
Buy a roll of film today and shoot it. Heck, buy more =P
Even if you’re a digital shooter and don’t even shoot film, buy some disposable film =)
I got too excited about today that I bought 10 rolls yesterday =P
